جامعة البصرة هي إحدى الجامعات العراقية الحكومية الموجودة في محافظة البصرة جنوبي العراق. تأسست الجامعة في عام 1964م، وتضم العديد من الكليات والمعاهد والمراكز البحثية في مجالات مختلفة مثل الهندسة والطب والعلوم الإنسانية والاقتصادية والقانونية والتربوية والزراعية وغيرها. تتميز الجامعة بمستوى عالي من التعليم والبحث العلمي، وتعتبر واحدة من أهم المؤسسات الأكاديمية في العراق.
تعد جامعة البصرة من أكبر الجامعات في العراق من حيث عدد الطلاب والكادر التدريسي. تضم الجامعة أكثر من 25 كلية ومعهدًا، ويتجاوز عدد طلابها الـ 50 ألف طالب. كما تتميز الجامعة بتوفير بيئة تعليمية مثالية للطلاب، من خلال توفير المعامل والمراكز البحثية المجهزة بأحدث التقنيات والأجهزة العلمية. وتهدف الجامعة إلى تطوير البحث العلمي وخدمة المجتمع المحلي والعالمي، من خلال إنتاج العلوم والتقنيات والمعرفة المتخصصة في مختلف المجالات.

The university seeks to enable the young generations in our beloved country, Iraq, to possess knowledge and employ it in the best possible way to meet the challenges of development and innovations in order to keep pace with the march in a sustainable manner derived from reality to deal with the challenges facing civilized societies.":
